Ottawa Movers You Can Actually Plan Around

Pro Moving Services is an Ottawa moving company built around the way this city actually moves: third-floor walk-ups in Sandy Hill, tight one-way streets in the Glebe, condo towers on Preston with a service elevator you have to book two weeks out, and a rental market that turns over every single month-end.

Moving in Ottawa? Here's what we plan for.

You get a written estimate before you book, a crew that arrives inside a two-hour window, and an invoice that matches the quote. No fuel surcharge added at the door, no stair fee that appears once the truck is loaded, no weight re-quote halfway through the day.

We are fully insured, WSIB-covered and CVOR-licensed, and we have been moving households and offices across the National Capital Region since 2011.

We handle the parking problem

Downtown addresses on Bank, Elgin or Somerset rarely have a spot for a 26-foot truck. We tell you up front whether a City of Ottawa temporary no-parking permit is worth it, and we can apply for one on your behalf so the crew is not shuttling loads half a block.

Condo and high-rise ready

Elevator booking, loading-dock windows and certificates of insurance are arranged with your property manager before move day. It is the single most common reason a downtown Ottawa move loses two hours, and it is entirely avoidable.

Built for month-end

Ottawa's rental market turns over on the last two days of the month and the last weekend of June. We hold reserve crews for those dates specifically, which is why we can often cover a move other companies have already turned down.

Student moves near uOttawa and Carleton

Small loads in and out of Sandy Hill and Old Ottawa South get a two-mover crew and a three-hour minimum rather than a full-day rate — the right size of job for a one-bedroom student apartment.

Our moving process

Four Steps, No Surprises

Every move we run follows the same sequence. You always know what happens next and what it costs.

  1. 1

    About 5 minutes

Call and tell us the basics

Give us the date, both addresses and roughly how much there is. A move consultant picks up seven days a week — no forms, no callback queue.

  2. 2

    Same conversation

Get your price on the call

We confirm access, stairs, elevators and parking, size the crew, then quote you. Larger homes get a free video or in-home survey and a guaranteed flat price.

  3. 3

    Move day, 7am–8pm

    We plan and protect

Your crew arrives inside a two-hour window, walks the home with you, lays floor runners, and blanket-wraps every piece before it leaves the room.

  4. 4

    Same day

    Placed, reassembled, done

Furniture goes where you want it, beds go back together, and boxes land in the right rooms. You sign off only once you have walked the truck and it is empty.

Packed our condo in a single afternoon

I booked packers two days before the move because I'd badly misjudged how long a kitchen takes. Two packers arrived with all the materials and were done by 4pm. Every box was labelled by room. Genuinely the best money I spent on the whole move.

Booked on Tuesday, moved on Thursday

Our closing got moved up with almost no notice and everyone else I called was full. They had a crew available in 48 hours and still showed up on time with a proper truck. Saved us from a hotel week.

Great crew, tight parking on Montreal Road

The crew was excellent and careful. Only note is that parking on Montreal Road cost us about 40 minutes of shuttle time — worth arranging a permit in advance if you're downtown. They warned me about it beforehand, to be fair.

How much does a mover cost in Ottawa?

Local Ottawa moves are hourly: $150/hr for two movers and a truck, $195/hr for three and $240/hr for four, plus a one-time $95 travel charge. A one-bedroom apartment usually lands between $600 and $850 all-in, and a three-bedroom house between $1,500 and $2,200. Long-distance moves are quoted as a guaranteed flat price.

Do you need a parking permit to move in downtown Ottawa?

On many downtown streets, yes. The City of Ottawa issues temporary no-parking permits that reserve curb space for a moving truck, and on streets like Bank, Elgin, Somerset or in the Glebe they save far more in crew time than they cost. We advise on this when you book and can arrange the permit for you.

Which Ottawa neighbourhoods do you serve?

All of them, plus the surrounding National Capital Region. That includes Centretown, the Glebe, Sandy Hill, Hintonburg, Westboro, Alta Vista, Orleans, Barrhaven, Nepean, Kanata, Stittsville, Manotick, Riverside South and across the river into Gatineau, Hull and Aylmer.
