How much do movers cost in Ottawa?

Local Ottawa moves are billed hourly. A two-mover crew with a truck starts at $150 per hour, three movers at $195 and four at $240, plus a one-time $95 travel charge that covers getting the truck to you and back. A typical two-bedroom apartment runs 4–6 hours, and a three-bedroom house 7–9 hours. Long-distance moves are quoted as a guaranteed flat price instead of hourly. Use our estimator for an instant range, then call us for a real quote on your specific move.

How far in advance should I book my move?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most of the year. Ottawa's demand spikes hard around the end of every month, the last weekend of June and the September student turnover, so for those dates book six to eight weeks out. We also hold capacity for last-minute moves and can often cover a job within 24 to 48 hours.

Are you insured, and what happens if something gets damaged?

Yes. We carry $2,000,000 in cargo coverage and $5,000,000 in general liability, and every crew member is covered under WSIB. Basic replacement-value protection is included on every move at no charge, and full-value protection can be added for high-value shipments. Damage claims are filed with our office directly and we do not require you to chase a third-party insurer.

Do you charge extra for stairs, elevators or long carries?

No. Stairs, elevators and long walks from the door to the truck take time, and time is already what you are paying for on an hourly move. We build them into the estimate up front so the number you are quoted is the number you plan around. There are no separate stair fees, fuel surcharges or heavy-item fees invented on move day.

Do you move on weekends and holidays?

Yes, at the same hourly rate as a weekday. We run Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8pm and Sunday from 8am to 6pm, including most statutory holidays. Commercial moves are frequently scheduled overnight or across a weekend so staff walk into a working office, and we do not charge a premium for that.

What won't you move?

By law we cannot transport propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, ammunition, fireworks or other flammables and hazardous goods. We also ask that you personally carry cash, jewellery, passports, prescriptions and irreplaceable documents. Live plants can be moved locally but not on long-distance runs where they will be in the truck overnight.

Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?

Clothing can stay in dresser drawers for a local move — leave it. Please empty anything with liquids, glass, electronics or documents, and empty filing cabinets and desks completely. For long-distance moves everything comes out of drawers, because the contents shift over hundreds of kilometres.

How do you handle parking downtown and in condo buildings?

For downtown Ottawa addresses we will tell you whether a City of Ottawa temporary no-parking permit is worth arranging, and we can apply for one on your behalf. For condos and apartments we book the service elevator and loading dock with building management ahead of the date, and we provide the certificate of insurance that almost every Ottawa property manager asks for.

Can you move a piano, safe or pool table?

Yes. Upright pianos, gun safes, treadmills and slate pool tables are routine for us with the right equipment and crew size, and we do not add a surprise heavy-item fee. Tell us about it when you book so we can send the fourth mover and the proper skids and straps, rather than discovering it in the living room on move day.

What form of payment do you take?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac e-Transfer and debit on completion of the move. Commercial and corporate accounts can be invoiced on net-30 terms. A deposit is only required for long-distance moves and peak end-of-month dates, and it is applied in full against your final invoice.

Service questions

Local Residential Moving

Houses, condos and apartments moved across Ottawa by uniformed, background-checked crews on transparent hourly rates.

How long does a 3-bedroom house move take in Ottawa?

Plan on 7 to 9 hours door to door with a three-person crew, assuming the home is fully packed before we arrive and both addresses have reasonable truck access. Stairs at either end, a long carry, or packing still in progress will push that towards 10 or 11 hours.

Do you provide boxes, or should I buy my own?

Dollies, straps, blankets and wardrobe boxes are provided free on move day. Cartons and packing materials can be delivered ahead of time for a fee, or included at no extra charge if you book our packing service.

Will the same crew do the loading and the unloading?

Yes. For every local Ottawa move the crew that loads your home is the crew that unloads it. Nothing is transferred between trucks and nothing is handed off to a subcontractor.

Service questions

Office & Commercial Moving

After-hours office relocations planned around your operating calendar — desks, IT, records and furniture, back online by Monday.

Can you move our office outside business hours?

Yes, and it is what we recommend. Most Ottawa office relocations load on a Friday evening and are set up by Sunday afternoon so staff arrive Monday to a working desk. Evening and weekend scheduling carries no premium.

Do you provide a certificate of insurance for our building?

Yes. Call us with the property manager's requirements and we will issue a certificate naming the building as required, usually within one business day. This applies at both the origin and destination buildings.

Can you handle our IT equipment and server room?

We decommission, transport in anti-static packaging, and place equipment ready for reconnection. We coordinate directly with your internal IT team or managed service provider on the shutdown and bring-up sequence so the two schedules line up.

Service questions

Long-Distance Moving

Ottawa to Toronto, Montreal, the Maritimes or across the country on a guaranteed flat price and a real delivery date.

How much does it cost to move from Ottawa to Toronto?

A one-bedroom apartment typically runs $1,600 to $2,200, a two-bedroom $2,400 to $3,400, and a three-bedroom house $3,800 to $5,500. Those are guaranteed flat prices based on an inventory, not estimates that get revised at a weigh scale.

When will my belongings arrive?

Ottawa to Toronto or Montreal is normally same-day or next-morning delivery. Longer runs to the Maritimes or Western Canada are quoted with a firm delivery date in writing at the time of booking, not a ten-day window.

Will my shipment be combined with someone else's?

Not without your written consent. Our standard long-distance service is a dedicated truck for your shipment alone. Shared loads are only offered when a customer specifically asks for the lower price and accepts a wider delivery window.

Service questions

Packing & Unpacking

Full-home or kitchen-and-fragiles-only packing, materials included, with unpacking and debris removal at the other end.

How long does professional packing take?

A two-packer team handles a typical two-bedroom Ottawa condo in about four to five hours, and a three-bedroom house in a single day. We normally pack the day before the move so move-day loading starts on time.

Is breakage covered if you pack my things?

Yes. Items we pack are covered against breakage under our cargo protection. Items packed by the customer are covered for loss and for damage caused by handling, but not for breakage inside a carton we did not pack — which is the practical reason most people book fragiles-only packing at minimum.

Can I have only the kitchen and fragile items packed?

Absolutely, and it is our most popular option. Kitchens, artwork, glass, electronics and mirrors take the longest and break the most often. Many customers pack their own clothing and books and leave those rooms to us.

Service questions

Senior Moving

Patient, unhurried downsizing and retirement-residence moves — including sorting, unpacking and making the bed before we leave.

Do you help decide what fits in the new suite?

Yes. Our coordinator measures the new residence or condo and produces a scaled floor plan showing exactly what will fit and where it will go, before anything is packed. It removes most of the stress from the decision.

Can you take away what isn't coming?

We coordinate donation drop-offs with Ottawa charities, arrange responsible disposal for what cannot be donated, and can hold items in storage for family members to collect later.

Will you set everything up at the new residence?

Yes. Beds are assembled and made, the TV and phone are plugged in, and kitchen and bathroom essentials are unpacked and put away before the crew leaves. Nobody spends their first night in a room full of boxes.

Service questions

Storage Solutions

Heated, alarmed, inventoried storage for closing-date gaps, renovations and staging — we deliver it back when you're ready.

Is the storage facility heated?

Yes, and in Ottawa that matters more than almost anywhere. Our warehouse is heated and humidity-managed year-round, which protects wood furniture, instruments, electronics and artwork from a climate that swings from −30 °C to +33 °C.

Can I access my things while they're in storage?

Yes, with 48 hours' notice. Because goods are palletised and shrink-wrapped for protection rather than kept in a walk-in unit, we retrieve the items you need rather than having you climb over the load.

What's the minimum storage term?

One week. Most closing-date gaps run two to six weeks, and we do not require a monthly minimum for short overlaps. Longer terms up to twelve months are available at a reduced monthly rate.
